The 5 Questions I Use to Rewrite an SEO Strategy
Every SEO program produces data. Traffic, rankings, impressions, conversions. The hard part is knowing what it means.
When growth slows or revenue plateaus, the real questions aren't reporting questions. Should you stay the course? Target different opportunities? Invest in GEO? Shift resources elsewhere?
Every rewrite starts with the same five questions. The first two find what's broken. The last three become the new plan. In this short video, I walk through the framework and how I decide what to keep and what to change.
How It Works
One strategy rewrite. Your team runs it.
- A clear verdict on your current strategy and why it's working or not
- What to fix, and what's holding your program back right now
- A rewritten strategy built for how your buyers search now, including AI answers
- A prioritized list of what to do first and why
- A 6-month plan your team or agency can execute
- A recorded walkthrough call for your team
This does not include content production or implementation. You team will be in charge of that.

Proof

After 2.5 years of stagnant growth, I rewrote Dataquest's SEO strategy, increasing organic lead flow from 1,600 to 4,800 leads per month (3X growth) in just 7 months.

After 2 years of declining organic traffic and cycling through three SEO agencies, I rewrote StickerYou's SEO strategy, resulting in an additional $1M in annual organic revenue. Their existing SEO agency executed the entire plan.

After an AI-driven decline reduced organic lead flow by roughly 75%, I rewrote a DTC SaaS company's content strategy, increasing organic lead flow by 600 leads per month within 4 months.
About Me
The review is only as useful as the person running it.
Over the last decade I've worked on SEO programs across B2B SaaS, B2C SaaS, eCommerce, and edtech, and analyzed hundreds of websites along the way. I've seen programs that were genuine growth engines, and programs that looked healthy on paper while actually falling behind.
The difference usually wasn't effort. It was whether the strategy was right.
After ten years of building, auditing, and fixing SEO programs, I know what both patterns look like. That's what I bring to every review.

Pricing
Every review is fixed-fee.
No retainers. No long-term commitment.
Most engagements fall between $4,500 and $9,500 depending on program complexity and team size.
Most reviews are complete within one week.
FAQs
What does the strategy actually include?
It depends on your program.
I'm focused on growing your pipeline and revenue, not traffic or rankings for their own sake. So I find what's holding that growth back and focus there.
That means every strategy is different.
If your content is strong but your site has technical problems, the strategy focuses on technical fixes. If your site is solid but competitors have more authority, it focuses on building authority through links. If competitors are winning with a completely different approach and you're leaving money on the table, the strategy shows you what they're doing and how to take that revenue back.
Below is everything I can cover. Your strategy will only include what will actually grow your revenue, so your team isn't spending time on work that won't pay off. Every strategy includes everything under "What you receive."
Business and performance
- SEO goals mapped to revenue, pipeline, or lead targets
- Pages that drive revenue vs. pages that only drive traffic
- When and where growth stalled, and whether it's algorithm updates, AI, seasonality, or self-inflicted
- Performance by page type, topic, funnel stage, and branded vs. non-branded search
- GA4, Search Console, and conversion tracking checks
- An honest take on whether SEO is the right investment right now
Keyword research
- A prioritized keyword list grouped by topic and intent, focused on revenue
- Keywords you're close to ranking for that could move quickly
- Keywords competitors rank for that you don't
- Keyword-to-page mapping and cannibalization issues
- Which page types and SERP features Google is rewarding for your priority terms
Content
- A content audit showing what to keep, update, consolidate, or remove
- Content gaps and new pages to create
- Topic cluster structure and missing page types (comparison, alternatives, use case, integration)
- Content depth and E-E-A-T gaps compared to competitors
- Conversion paths on organic landing pages
AI search and GEO
- Visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and AI Overviews
- Which competitors get cited and why
- How much traffic loss is AI-driven vs. fixable
Technical SEO
- Crawlability, indexation, site architecture, and internal linking
- Page templates, duplicate content, redirects, page speed, and JavaScript rendering
- Structured data, faceted navigation, and international or local setup when relevant
- Everything ranked by business impact, not tool severity
Authority and links
- Your backlink profile vs. the competitors outranking you
- Link-building strategy and the types of sites worth pursuing
- Linkable asset ideas, digital PR angles, and unlinked brand mentions
- Risky link patterns to address
Competitors
- Your true search competitors, which often differ from your business competitors
- What they're doing differently at the site level
- Where they're gaining ground and where they're vulnerable
Team and agency
- Whether your team or agency is set up to execute the plan
- Wasted time and budget
- Migration or redesign risk when relevant
What you receive
- A clear verdict on your current strategy
- What to fix, stop, start, and keep
- A prioritized roadmap ranked by impact and effort
- A 6-month plan with success metrics for each month.
- A recorded walkthrough call with your team
Your team or agency handles implementation.
Is this only for companies with declining traffic?
Some clients come to me with flat traffic they can't explain. Others are growing but want to know whether the growth is sustainable. Declining traffic is a common trigger but it's not the only reason to get a second opinion.
Do you work with companies that use an agency?
Yes. In some cases the review is specifically about evaluating whether the agency relationship is actually delivering value.
What if you think our SEO strategy is wrong?
I'll explain why, show you the evidence, and outline what I'd change. Whether you act on that with your current team, your agency, or someone else is entirely up to you.
Does the review include implementation?
No. The review covers strategy and direction. Some clients come back for advisory support after the review. Most act on the findings themselves.
How is this different from an SEO audit tool?
Tools flag technical issues. This review evaluates strategy, direction, and whether the overall approach makes sense given how search is actually changing. Those are different problems.
How long does the process take?
Most reviews are complete within one week. Timelines can vary depending on program complexity and how quickly I can access the relevant data.
What do I actually receive at the end?
No. The review covers strategy and direction. Some clients come back for advisory support after the review. Most act on the findings themselves.
Stop running a strategy you're not sure about.
Most rewrites pay for themselves if they prevent one more quarter pointed in the wrong direction.
